Welding
- Most stainless steels are considered to have good weldability and can be welded by several welding processes. These processes are arc welding processes, resistance welding, electron and laser beam welding, friction welding and brazing. Among the stainless steel family, the austenitic grades are some of the most readily welded of all metals. In general the stainless steels have weldabilities which depend upon the family to which they belong. For any of these processes, joint surfaces and any filler metal must be clean.
