Introduction
UNS S44002
440A (UNS S44002) is the most rust resistant one of 440 steel series.
Due to high carbon content, it has greater hardenability but weaker weldability than 440B (S44003) and 440C (S44004) in the hardened state. 440A is a low cost stainless steel with moderate corrosion resistance good strength and the ability to obtain and keeps excellent hardness (Rc 56) and wear resistance.

The steels 440A (UNS S44002) is designed to provide stainless properties with maximum hardness and high strength as well as corrosion resistance
in the hardened and stress relieved condition,but it doesn't have full corrosion resistance either in the annealed or in the hardened and tempered condition.
