Introduction
UNS S43100
Martenitic stainless steel 431 (UNS S43100) is the most corrosion resistant
of the martensitic ones. Due to Alloy 431's excellent
tensile and torque strength and good toughness it is used in structural parts that are exposed to marine atmosphere, also for aircraft fasteners and fittings.
Properties
431 (UNS S43100) can provide improved corrosion resistance and toughness, and it has excellent tensile and torque strength and good toughness. It has excellent toughness (impact strength) at relatively high hardness level,and the 431 also provides atmospheric corrosion resistance and offers the best resistance to marine atmospheres of the regular martensitic ones. It also resists attack under the environment of petroleum products and organic materials, as well as nitric acid and several other acidic surroundings.
