UNS S41008
Martensitic stainless steel 410S (UNS S41008) is a kind of stainless steel with low amount of carbon.The low carbon and some small alloy s addition can prevent austenite microstructure from forming at high temperatures, and 410S remains soft and ductile even when rapidly cooled from above the critical temperature. This non-hardening characteristic helps prevent cracking when the alloy is exposed to high temperatures or welded. The corrosion resistance of 410S is similar to that of 410. It provides good resistance corrosion under the surroundings of atmospheric , fresh water, mild acids and alkalies, and some other chemicals.And the 410S is completely ferritic in the annealed condition.

Heat treatment of 410S/S41008
Preparatory treatment
Annealing temperature is 780 ~ 830 ℃, air cooling or slow cooling, the hardness ≤ 183HBW.
Quenching and tempering
Quenching temperature is 950 ~ 1050 ℃, while annealing temperature 400 ~ 700 ℃.
Application
410S (UNS S41008) can be widely use, especially under the environments with the requirements of high toughness under impact loading.below are some applications the steel is typically used:

• media devices
• structural frame
• heat exchangers
• towers
