Introduction
446 (UNS S44600) is a high chromium ferritic stainless steel
with good oxidation resistance and high temperature corrosion.
Properties
446 (UNS S44600) has the most oxidation resistance among the 400 series. The resistance to cyclic oxidation is equal to or better than that of 309/ 310, yet with lower strength at elevated temperatures.

Forging process of stainless steel 446 (S44600)
Preheat / ℃ initial forging temperature / ℃ final forging temperature / ℃ Cooling
760 1040 ~ 1120 705 ~ 790 air-cooled
Heat treatment of 446 (S44600)
Annealing temperature is under 780 ~ 880 ℃, 1 ~ 2h, air cooling, the hardness ≤ 201HBW.
Application
446 (UNS S44600) is particularly used to make parts and equipment with the requirement of excellent high temperature resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Typically applications are shown below:
