Introduction & Properties
Duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel SUS329J2L is developed on the basis
of the alloy255. SUS329J2L is one of the representatives of the second generation of duplex ones. The 329J2L has good mechanical properties and resistance to localized corrosion, and the wear resistance is especially superior to that of the general austenitic stainless steel, which is ideal material for applications under seawater.

Forging process of S329J2L
Preheat / ℃ initial forging temperature / ℃ final forging temperature / ℃ Cooling
800 1100 ~ 1150 ≥ 930 air-cooled
Heat treatment
Solution temperature is 950 ~ 1120 ℃, water, hardness ≤ 290HBW; aging temperature is 500℃ ~ 510 ℃.
Hot and cold process
SUS329J2L steel can be cut, stamped, molded, etc. When the cold forming began, it takes 2 to 3 times more of the pressure to be deformed than that of austenitic ones.If heated to 200℃, the yield strength can be reduced by 25%, which is helpful in forming and reducing the rebounce.
Welding
The welding is familiar to that of austenitic ones, and no need for heat treatment after welding.
The corrosion resistance
In the chloride environment, SUS329J2L is superior to S31500 in pitting resistance, and also is an ideal material to use under marine environment.
