S31200 Duplex Stainless Steel
Introduction & Properties
Duplex (austenitic - ferritic) stainless steel S31200 is developed
by adding nitrogen on the basis of SUS329JI with the reduction of amount of chromium and carbon. The steel has high strength, good resistance to chloride stress corrosion and weldability, etc. It also has best resistance to pitting corrosion,and can replace the SUS329JI steel in some applications.

Forging Process

800 1100 ~ 1150 ≥ 950 air-cooled
Heat Treatment
Solution temperature is 950 ~ 1100 ℃, then cooled rapidly, the hardness ≤ 260HBW.
Weldability
The welding ability of S31200 is the same as that of austenitic stainless steel 18-8, no preheating before welding, and no need for heat treatment after welding.
Application
S31200 can be typically used on below field:
• chemical, fertilizer, petrochemical
• heat exchangers, evaporators.
