Heat-resistant XM-16 (UNS S45500) is a kind of precipitation hardening stainless steel with low amount of carbon, copper, niobium as well as titanium.The hardness of steel is 36HRC after solution treatment, which can be esay for cutting. And the hardness is more than 44HRC after precipitation hardening treatment under 480 ℃..

Forging process of XM-16/S45500
Preheat / ℃ heating temperature / ℃ initial forging temperature / ℃ final forging temperature / ℃ Cooling
800 1180 ~ 1200 1150 ~ 1160 ≥ 930 air-cooled
Heat treatment of XM-16/S45500
Solution temperature is 1020 ~ 1100 ℃, cooling with water, hardness ≤ 36HRC.
Aging treatment of XM-16/S45500
Heating temperature is 480 ℃, hardness ≥ 44HRC; while heating temperature 510 ℃, the hardness ≥ 44HRC.
Application
XM-16/S45500 can be used on parts that requires corrosion resistance , wear resistance, high precision,and work at a certain temperature .
