UNS S15510
XM-12 (UNS S15510) is developed on the basis of 630/S17400. In addition to its high strength, it has high toughness and good lateral ductility as well as the same corrosion resistance performance as that of 630/S1740.

Forging process of XM-12/S15510
Preheat / ℃ heating temperature / ℃ initial forging temperature / ℃ final forging temperature / ℃ Cooling
800 1180 ~ 1200 1150 ~ 1160 ≥ 930 air-cooled
Preliminary heat treatment of XM-12/S15510
XM-12/S15510 has good hardness after forging process, but needs to be softened before it can be processed.
Solution treatment of XM-12/S15510
Solution temperature 1020 ~ 1040 ℃, cooling with water, the organization is low-carbon martensite, hardness ≤ 38HRC.
Aging treatment of XM-12/S15510
Recommended aging temperature is 480 ℃, hardness ≥ 40HRC.
Application
XM-12 (UNS S15510) stainless steel is mainly used for products required for high strength, good toughness, excellent corrosion resistance and the harsh environment, typical applications are shown as below:
• high strength plastic molds,forging, high pressure system valve parts
• aircraft spare parts.
