632 Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel
Introduction
UNS S15700Precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel 632 (UNS S15700) is added with the amount
of Al and Mo. The materials are used for springs, diaphragms, aircraft bulkheads and other aircraft parts requiring high strength at elevated temperatures.
Properties
632 provides high strength and hardness as well as good corrosion resistance and minimum distortion upon heat treatment.

Forging process of 632 (UNS S15700)
heating temperature / ℃ initial forging temperature / ℃ final forging temperature / ℃ Cooling
1180 ~ 1200 1100 ~ 1150 ≥ 950 cooled with air or sand
Solution treatment of 632/S15700
1000 ~ 1100 ℃, cooled with water or air, the hardness ≤ 269HBW.
Application
632 (UNS S15700) is used on parts with the requirements of corrosion resistance and high strength,typically applications are shown as below:
• aerospace, petrochemical
• reactor components
• various containers, pipes, springs
• ship shaft, the compressor disk and so on.
