The Welding Characteristics of Austenitic Stainless Steels
- There are a number of typical austenitic stainless steels, such as SUS303, SUS304, SUS309, SUS316, SUS317 and so on. They have been treated as the most widely used stainless steels. 1. Intergranular corrosion

The main reason of thermal crack is that the welded dendrites are very directive, which is conductive to the formation and aggregation of low melting eutectic product of phosphonium and sulfur. In addition, the coefficient of thermal conductivity is very small while the coefficient of thermal expansion is large. As a consequence, the welding stress is very large, which prompt the occurrence of thermal crack.
